Little Tree is a celebrated story for children, in the stage of life when they realize that mom and dad won’t always be there to take care of them. For many children this is a moment of sadness, fear or anxiety that can be difficult to express and to talk about. Grime wrote the book to help children understand that they are never really alone. That as we grow we become more able to handle the changing seasons of our lives – just like Little Tree.
In the final illustration, L.L. Grime introduces her character “Milo” from her second story “Do You Love Me?” Milo makes a cameo appearance as he lives nearby to Little Tree and The Great Forest. L.L. Grime plans to write another adventure in which Milo and Little Tree meet and become friends.
